Torosaurus is a genus of herbivorous ceratopsid dinosaur that lived during the late Maastrichtian stage of the Cretaceous period, between 68 and 66 million years ago, and weighed about 4 to 6 tons. They are primarily found in the North Dakotans Formation of Hell Creek, and Lance Creek Formation-Wyoming as well as other places like Canada, the USA, Colorado, etc. They are known for having one of the largest skulls of any land animal, not just dinosaurs. The neck frill, which extends from the rear of the skull and covers the neck, accounts for the majority of this physical length but was almost definitely designed more for display than for defense. Torosaurus is distinguished from Triceratops by its larger, thinner cranial frill that is perforated by two large openings.
